Going for ROW80!

On to my next challenge now.

After failing miserably (well, maybe not so miserably; I did finish the week-long challenge in a week and a half) at Voice Week 2011, I’m ready to be pushed again.

So. I chanced upon A Round of Words in 80 Days (a.k.a. ROW80), and I think this is doable enough. This is apparently Round 4 of the challenge, and I’m glad I found out about it!

To be a bit on the sure side, I’m setting just one goal here:

FINISH THE FIRST DRAFT OF MY FIRST NOVEL.Β (see postscript)

I will actually sign up for NaNoWriMo, but I don’t want to be overly stressed about having to finish 50,000 words in a month. So I’ll try and see how far I can get with NaNoWriMo, but the ultimate commitment I’m making to myself is to have a complete draft in 80 days, starting tomorrow.

I’m happy and excited to see a big community here at #ROW80, and I’m looking forward not just to achieving my goal but also to interacting with the other writers here.

Ciao!

postscript:

I just went over the #ROW80 blog and realized I need to improve my goal statement. Okay.

I WILL WRITE AT LEAST 500 WORDS EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE NEXT 80 DAYS, TOWARD THE COMPLETION OF MY NOVEL.

That should do it.

  1. Excellent goal – funny I say that, mine is identical (for October anyway, it’s changing for NaNo then again in December for a little break!).
Well done for finding ROW80 just in time to start – and GOOD LUCK!

  2. So are you in for NanoWrimo next month, then? I plan on participating, too. This is year 5 for me and while I’ve never quite gotten to 50K (30K in two weeks), it’s been a terrific tool for quieting that inner critic and editor that wants to second guess everything. One of my favorite things to do is to go back and re-read what I wrote, at the end of the challenge – and then right before starting another year. I’m fairly certain that I’ll be able to pick at least one of my prior Nano projects to jumpstart this years challenge – using it for motivation and inspiration.

If you’d like to be buddies over there, my pen name is Jane Bond. Either way, good luck!

    1. It’s gonna be my first time for both Row80 and NaNoWriMo!
On second thought, scratch that. I actually tried NaNoWriMo once and got as far as two pages. Fail!!!

See you then, Jane Bond! πŸ™‚

  3. Good luck with ROW80.. πŸ™‚ I am joining up for NaNoWriMo this year as well. I never did it before, so I am pretty stoked. Look me up if you need a buddy should you decide to tackle NaNoWriMo… πŸ™‚

    Good luck with your goal!

    Darlene
